The 2nd annual Shared Services Business Event from MSB Events, took place September 11th to the 13th in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe - Budapest. The capital city, sometimes appropriately referred to as the Pearl of the Danube, is not only a centre of architectural masterpieces and healing springs, but also as a world-class business and financial centre. The city enjoys an elaborate and modern infrastructure, a favourable investment climate, convenient location, a large number of educational institutions and aspiring young talent. All of these advantages combine to create an atmosphere that has encouraged major European and Global Corporations to locate their SSCs in the city and region.
In the framework of the three day event, SSC senior managers and consulting companies directors from Russia, CIS and Europe shared their practical experiences gained from enhancing the effectiveness of their enters, reducing operational and exposure risks, controlling costs and introducing communication models and standards between the centres and the serviced units.
Issues such as streamlining business processes through human resource management, digitalization and information streams management were analyzed, investigated and discussed in depth. Focused information on best-practices shared by experts and today’s leaders combined with interactive discussion formats and an informal setting gave participants the opportunity to get up-to-date information, track SSC development trends and make plans for the upcoming year and beyond.
The meeting presented a unique opportunity to visit a pair of the leading Shared Service Centres in the area - BP European Business Service Centre and Diageo Business Services Centre. The participants toured the facilities with their Sr. Management hosts and analyzed the strengths and the main challenges of SSC operations.
The second day started with a benchmarking and comparative analysis of the European SSC model and the potential for success in various regions.
The final day was devoted to a detailed analysis of the various SSC development stages – from transferring to the insourcing service model to understanding and evaluating the effort to maximise a company’s return on effort and investments.
MSB Events would like to thank all the participants and experts for their input and new ideas, and for the unforgettable days in gorgeous Budapest. We are already working on next year’s event, so until then, thanks and we hope you all had great success and a great time.
